About us · Vercelli
We grow it, pack it and distribute it ourselves. We always know where every grain is.
Ideariso was founded in Vercelli in 2015. Massimo and Maurizio Tabacchi are agronomists before they are businessmen — they have been growing rice on this plain for more than fifty years. Their land lies in Vercelli and Briona.
The packing plant is in Vercelli. A vertically integrated supply chain, FSSC 22000 certified. Everything under one roof.

Our supply chain
Five stages, one journey. Click or scroll.
01 · Choosing the variety and the seed
It all begins with choosing the seed.
Before any sowing, there is a choice to make: which variety to entrust to this soil. Massimo and Maurizio make it as agronomists, not as traders — weighing certified seed, yield and how well each variety suits the microclimate of the Vercelli area.
Gigante Vercelli, a Slow Food Presidium since 2018, is the result of this selection: a variety that had almost disappeared, brought back because this land still knew how to grow it well.
02 · Cultivation
Soil, water, rotation.
We use fertilisers and plant protection products carefully and very sparingly. We practise green manuring and crop rotation. We follow the regional agri-environmental measures of the Rural Development Programme (PSR).
We regularly test both paddy and milled rice to check that the finished product is free of chemical residues.

03 · Milling, at the rice mill
Gentle and light.
The harvested paddy rice goes to a family-run mill, chosen for the quality of its work. The choice is deliberate: gentle milling preserves the thin outer layer of the grain — the one that keeps it firm as it cooks and gives a risotto its creaminess.
Depending on the degree of milling, the result is white, semi-brown or brown rice.
04 · Packing
How we pack.

Tubes in recycled cardboard
The rice in our tubes is packed in a protective atmosphere with food-grade nitrogen: no preservatives, a long shelf life, freshness the moment you open it. The cardboard is recycled; the aluminium lining inside keeps the product intact. A cap and easy-peel seal make it simple to open and close again. Sizes: 1000g · 500g · 320g. The 320g tube is also available for our risotto mixes.
Boxed vacuum bricks
The size for professionals and anyone who uses rice in quantity. Vacuum-sealed in a bag, protected by an outer box. Size: 1kg.
05 · Customer / distributor
From the grain to your table — or your shelf.
From here the rice goes its different ways: direct sales online, food service, supermarkets with Tenuta La Gemma, distributors and corporate gifts. Whichever way it goes, traceability never breaks — we always know which field every batch comes from.

Certifications
Every stage checked, every certification earned.
- FSSC 22000 · Bureau Veritas
Food safety
FSSC 22000 is one of the most rigorous international food safety standards: it covers the whole chain — raw material, processing, packing, storage.
Independent audits by Bureau Veritas assure our customers of a product that is traceable, checked and third-party certified.
- FSA · SAI Platform
Agricultural sustainability
The Farm Sustainability Assessment evaluates the environmental, social and economic performance of the farming supply chain — water management, biodiversity, working conditions, impact on the local area.
Not a marketing certificate: a structured measurement of real practices.
